Pigeon” Program Monday:
Morning: loft fly the birds until they land, call them in to eat ½
normal ration. Cap off the water. Water: clean waterers; refill adding 2 tablespoons of Globals Super Vit to 1 gallon of water. Tuesday: Morning: train birds about 40 miles line of flight for the upcoming race. Feed ½ normal ration which is waiting for them when they trap in. Cap off the water. Evening: loft fly the birds until they land, call them in to eat normal ration coated with garlic oil and sprinkled lightly with “Healthy Pigeon”. Water: clean waterers; refill adding 1 ounce of Apple Cider vinegar to 1 gallon of water Wednesday: Morning: loft fly the birds and when land let then bathe, if possible. Let the birds lounge around in the yard while bathing. Call in and feed normal ration. Evening: loft fly the birds until they land, call them in to eat normal ration coated with garlic oil and sprinkled lightly with “Healthy Pigeon”. Water: clean waterers; refill adding 1 cap full of Clorox bleach to 1 gallon of water. Thursday: Morning: train birds about 60 miles line of flight for the upcoming race if less than 400 miles. No training if 400 mile race or over as this is shipping day. Feed normal ration. Cap off the water. Evening: loft exercise the birds if race is less than 400 miles and upon trapping feed normal ration coated with garlic oil and sprinkled lightly with “Healthy Pigeon”. If this is shipping night for the 400 or over, feed as listed above but no loft flying. Water: clean waterers; refill adding 2 tablespoons of Super Vit from Global Pigeon Supply to each gallon. Friday: Morning: day of shipping for less than 400 mile races. No training or loft flying. Feed birds lightly around noon, if possible. Regulate feed amount based on the forecasted weather conditions, if blow home race feed light; adjust according to the projected difficulty of the race. Do not overfeed! Cap off water. Evening: just before catching the birds’ clean waterers; refill adding 1 cap full of Clorox per 1 gallon of water. Feed the birds a handful of feed just enough to get them to take a drink. Let them settle down for about 30 minutes, then catch the ones you are sending to the race. Saturday: Morning: day of race. Clean lofts, waterers and have feed waiting for the bird’s arrival coated with garlic oil and sprinkled lightly with “Healthy Pigeon”. Let them eat their fill. Remove leftover feed in the evening. Fill waterers with clean clear water. Sunday: Morning: Let the birds rest. Feed ½ ration and cap off water. Evening: Let the birds rest. Feed ½ ration coated with garlic oil and sprinkled lightly with “Healthy Pigeon”. Water: clean waterers; refill adding 1 ounce of Apple Cider Vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Note: Once before each season treat all birds (breeders and racers) with Globals 3-1 and again about half way through the season. Also, at your discretion vaccinate all birds for PMV, paratyphoid etc. once a year, recommended in the off season for both the breeders and racers.
